Our Heroes Night Out     Honoring our Homeless veterans
                                                          One night at a time

In February of 2009 the North Port V.A., Suffolk  county, hired me to do balloons and magic for their annual winter festival. I started teaching some of the guys how to make balloon animals and the secrets to some simple magic tricks. They seemed to enjoy learning the techniques and expressed an interest in learning more.
My son and I do balloon & magic workshops for the girl scouts and libraries throughout Long Island and thought it would be fun to bring these workshops to them. A few weeks later we went to the Salvation Army facility at the Northport V.A. where the Homeless veterans live . We had such a great time teaching them balloon sculptures and they where so appreciative,we felt compelled to do more!
In July of 2009 the Milleridge Inn Restaurant in Jericho donated and hosted our very first outing with the guys!! Contributions were also made by Philip Levy who put on a magic show and Elite Transport who provided the transportation for the event. The willingness of these people to help us honor these veterans gave my family and I the inspiration to form
 Our Heroes Night Out
soon after.

The veterans are allowed to live at the Salvation Army facility of the Northport V.A. for up to 4 months. While there they receive therapy, job training ,home placement and lots of support.

We need your help
